The CBRE Urban Photographer of the Year Competition invites any amateur photographer aged over 16 to enter their 2013 competition to win an amazing photo safari holiday worth £5000.

The theme of this year’s competition is ‘Cities at Work,’ your photograph must represent the pulse of your chosen place. The photo can be taken at any time of day but must resemble the hour your photograph portrays in eg 6am in Melbourne. You can submit up to 24 photos (one per hour of the day) and entry for the competition is completely free.

There are six categories to give you some inspiration:

  • Travel/Transport
  • Workplace
  • Architecture
  • Cityscape
  • Environment
  • Urban Regeneration

This year sees the introduction of a student competition which runs alongside the main competition contending for the same prizes with the addition of an iPad!

The first prize allows you to choose from a selection of fantastic photo safari holidays spanning the globe. Choose to spend a week in either America, Africa, Oman, India, the Arctic or Mongolia, Butan and Thailand.

Second Prize is a top range Olympus OM-D Camera with an inter-changeable lens. Third Prize is a Blue Dot Display Stand, a portable display system that displays six square metres.
