Want to be the Leading Role in a New Major Feature Film?
The National Youth Film Academy is looking for an 11 to 14-year-old female of Eastern European, Mediterranean, Scandinavian or Caucasian appearance to play the leading role in “Helen,” a new feature film directed by Virginia Gilbert. No prior acting experience is necessary.
The film addresses a sensitive subject matter. Helen is an “intelligent and thoughtful pre-teen who becomes angry and manipulative as she approaches adolescence in the surrounds of her broken family,” said the National Youth Film Academy.
The film is set in a London suburb where David and his 12-year-old daughter Helen live alone together after David and Helen’s mother Clara get a divorce. Clara marries a successful journalist named Tom and Helen sees them on weekends and holidays.
Helen suddenly makes a shocking and vicious accusation against Tom, which surprises the family. A crisis evolves in the family and has disastrous consequences for each member involved.
“Helen is a film about subdued emotions, and what happens when they are eventually unleashed,” said the National Youth Film Academy.
The film will be filmed in Dublin and France and is under the Equity/PACT pay category.
