Got a passion for fashion? Fancy yourself the next Giles Deacon, Stella McCartney or Alexander McQueen? Your chance to shine may be just around the corner–the 2014 Fashion Designers’ & Craft Makers’ Young Designer Awards are now open for entries!

FDC Young Designer Awards are aimed at discovering new, cutting-edge fashion talent. The FDC Young Designer Award is open to fashion creatives aged 16-29, while young designers aged 9-15 are eligible to take part in the FDC Young Designer Project. Winners will be given the opportunity to show a collection in New York City.

This year’s brief, part of FDC’s effort to encourage young talent to demonstrate that they have what it takes to be a future innovator, will take inspiration from F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel “The Great Gatsby”. Judges look for candidates who show the most creativity, originality and interpretation of the brief. There are separate briefs for the Emerging Designer Award and The Radical Designer Award. The awards will take place in London in the autumn.

Winners who fit the criteria for an established fashion week will be given an opportunity for their work to be shown before the panel of directors of Vancouver Fashion Week. Other winners will be given the opportunity to debut a collection in our FDC showcase in New York.

Young designers interested in entering should send an email to: [email protected] for an application form, stating their age in the main body of the email and write ‘please send me an application form for The FDC Young Designers Awards’ in the subject line. Designers must state their age and in which part of the British Isles they reside.
