Find your forum with Laydeez Do Comics
Laydeez Do Comics is the first open forum in the UK for all female comics book & graphic novel creators in the UK.
Laydeez was born from a need to fill the lack of female presence of in the UK Comics scene. Officially founded in 2009 by Nicola Streeten and Sarah Lightman in London, Laydeez has now expanded internationally to throughout the UK to Dublin, Leeds, Bristol, and even across the pond to Chicago, and San Franscico. With plans to expand within the next year to Berlin, Toronto, and further US cities Seattle & Washington D.C. “I’ve been working the states” is how co-founder Streeten put it.
They often hold pop-up events to get the word out about who they are and what they do. So far they have had successful events in New York, Toronto, Glasgow, and Brighton.

They’ve now moved on from their former cold and rainy dwelling on Brick Lane, to the glamorous hotspot that is Foyles Charring Cross.
Sarah Lightman also has her own Graphic Details Confessional comics by Jewish women exhibition coming up at Space Station Sixty Five in London, after having already toured around the world since 2010. Make sure to check it out from the 26th of August.
While the current exhibition at Space Station Sixty Five until 26th July, The F Word, is by Laydeez member Maureen Burdock. Showcasing five feminists stories from around the world in the form of comics.
Laydeez Do Comics meet every month or so in the 5th floor Auditorium of Foyles Bookstore, 107 Charing Cross Road. Entry is Free, with the promise of networking opportunities and insight into the most innovative female creators in the field, and cake.
