Music loving young people across the South West are being given the chance to win prizes worth £2,700 as the region’s biggest and longest running film festival starts the countdown to its 25th anniversary edition in December by launching a quest to find the best new film score composers.
FilmScore is a competition run by Bath Film Festival to find the next brilliant young composer. Professional film makers donate their short films with the soundtrack removed to the project then young people aged 14-19 yrs old are invited to compose music for the films in the hope of winning the illustrious competition and £2700 worth of cash prizes. We have selected 6 excellent short films, including an Aardman film (Morph, Twin Decks); a brilliant short film from the National Film & Television School, and a couple of international shorts from the London International Animation Festival.
This year to meet demand, the project has grown out of its geographical remit of Bristol/Bath, now young composers from across the South West will be applying to the project.
The project culminates with a Gala Award Ceremony at Komedia, Bath in March 2016 judged by professional film composers with prizes and a ceremony attended by industry professionals. The young composers who enter are supported by online tips and tricks, a workshop programme and opportunities to become music ambassadors.
The submission process starts on 14th September here http://www.bathfilmfestival.org.uk/film-score/
