London Design Festival starts early with the Designers/Makers FLORA + FAUNA Pop-Up Shop! You can find the shop on 136 Columbia Road, London, E1 7RG. The shop is open from Wednesday – Sunday, 11am-6pm, until 30 September 2013.

As part of the premiere of London Design Festival, the contemporary design & craft agency Designers/Makers, are featuring work from 40 specially selected artists to exhibit and sell their work at the FLORA + FAUNA Pop-Up Shop.

FLORA + FAUNA are located on East London’s Columbia Road, home to the regular Columbia Road Flower Street Market, and less than 15 minutes walk from Brick Lane. The area is already well known as one of the city’s foremost creative districts, aiming to showcase up and coming talents from around the country. The FLORA + FAUNA Pop-Up Shop is another great addiction to that ever growing relative culture.

The shop features a range of art to accommodate varying interests, including: fashion, interior design, glass, jewellery, stationery, furniture, ceramics, metalwork and prints. Look out for the Designers/Makers next scheduled events at Columbia Road, The Geffrye Museum, and Southbank Centre over the next few months. Make sure to also look out for the Designers/Makers regular market-stall at Old Spitalfields Market on the third Saturday of every month in East London.

Designers/Makers have been successfully operating for the past two years, after starting out in Hackney with heir own market stall. They’re a self sufficient start-up agency, funding themselves through their own promotion and fundraising.

They aim to provide support to Design and Craft practitioners in the form of the membership scheme – which includes a quarterly newsletter packed full of events and opportunities, workshops and training, residency and grant opportunities so that designers are up to speed with all opportunities and events taking place throughout the UK.

You can follow what the Designers/Makers are up to through facebook, twitter, or pintrest. Or contact them directly for more info.
