Want to be mentored by top broadcast journalists and learn how a newsroom works? Breaking Into News may be your chance!

Media Trust has just launched the competition in partnership with ITV News. Breaking Into News offers 18- to 25-year-olds the opportunity to be mentored by top journalists and to produce their own local news report. The contest enables young people to have their say about something that matters to them and potentially have their news reports shown on television. No experience is necessary–just passion and enthusiasm.

Recent Breaking Into News finalist, Abdus Samad said: “The initiative was a rare opportunity to do something I love and have a passion for. I thought my chance of a career in media would never come! I would encourage anyone with a passion for news or the media to apply regardless of their experience.”

Nine finalists from across England and Wales will then be selected and will receive mentoring support from ITV News professionals to help turn their ideas into news reports for their local ITV newsroom.
