Aspiring Journos—Get your Submissions in for the 5th Annual Column Idol
Part of an initiative fronted by Radio 1 presenter Nick Grimshaw to find undiscovered writing talent and get young voices heard, this year ten young people, aged 16-25, will have a side column published in The Sun, while five finalists will receive mentoring at The Sun’s summer school. One winner will get their own full-page column printed and win two further week’s mentoring and training at The Sun, through Media Trust’s youth mentoring scheme.
The competition has seen previous finalists secure top jobs at national papers, including 2010’s winner Lee Price, a currently a feature writer for The Sun and last year’s finalist Alex Harris, an online journalist at The Daily Express.
