Apples and Snakes is England’s foremost organisation for performance poetry and spoken word. They run a number of events throughout the UK to encourage and showcase work from poets, performers, rappers and storytellers. Apples and Snakes also put on free monthly spoken word events such as Jawdance, Speak Your Mind, and The Writing Room where poets are free perform their work to crowds on stage.

They especially emphasize and encourage young poets from age 16-25 to express themselves and develop their craft, with established, professional poets regularly attending to perform and advise. Apples and Snakes keeps the poetry community informed on what happening and how to get involved with education, competitions, and performances.

This week Apples and Snakes presents Jawdance, a spoken word performance event on the fourth Wednesday of the month held at Rich Mix in Shoreditch at 7:30pm. Admission is Free.

“If you like POETRY and WORDS, come along – it’s FREE! Furthermore, if you like GETTING UP ON STAGE AND JUST DOING IT, arrive early to secure yourself an open-mic slot. Hosted by Joelle Taylor and featuring performances from Rik the Most, Bam Bam the Poet, Hannah Chutzpah and Yvonne Eba.”
